1. Look for and read the signs. Read the signs posted in a swimming area and follow the safety information

Why is Margaret Mahy famous to New Zealand?

The playground is named for Margaret Mahy, New Zealand's famous children's author. After it was reported in January 2016 that the slide got so hot during sunny summer days that it blistered fingers, shade sails were installed

The Park was once part of the Elsie Locke Playground, while the new expanded area was named after Margaret Mahy, one of Canterbury's most-loved authors. Part of the Government's Recovery Plan following the earthquakes of 2010/11, the playpark is the largest playground in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Lion and the Dog

A lion came upon a dog straying from the trees and didn’t want to take the life of such a helpless creature without a good excuse. So the lion said, “You are the dog that insulted me last year.” “That is impossible, sir,” bleated the dog for I wasn’t even born then.” “Well,” said the Lion “you eat from the jungle you   may yet taste jungle dirt” “You drink from my lake  then” continued the lion“Indeed, sir,” said the poor dog “I have never yet drunk anything but my mother's milk Well, anyhow.” and he sprang upon the dog and ate him for his dinner

:the lion and the Dog without another word.

The lion went away and never went back to where he killed the little dog
