Who is Galileo & why is he important? 
Galileo was a natural philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician 
When was Galileo alive? 
February 15, 1564 
What country did he live in? 
Italy
 What was Galileo famous for? 
 For his discovery of the four most massive moons of Jupiter, now known as the Galilean moons. 
What are the 5 main discoveries that Galileo made? 
The first pendulum clock, The stars of the Milky Way, Jupiter's moons, The phases of Venus, Craters, and mountains on the Moon and with mountains and craters whose shadows changed with the position of the Sun. 
Was Galileo ever punished for his ideas? 
His theory that the Earth moves around the Sun. Jailed for his ideas. 
Find out some interesting facts about Galileo. 
He was a college dropout. He didn’t invent the telescope but the telescope discovers lots of things The Vatican didn’t admit Galileo was right until 1992. Galileo was said to have dropped two cannonballs of different masses from the leaning tower of Pisa to demonstrate that their speed of descent was independent of their mass.
