2D Shapes are flat objects like paper so you measure  only the with and length of the piece of paper 
3D shape are what you call it a volume and you measure the how big it is and the length and the depth

and her is a facts of 3D shapes In geometry, a three-dimensional shape can be defined as a solid figure or an object or shape that has three dimensions – length, width and height. Unlike two-dimensional shapes, three-dimensional shapes have thickness or depth.
